Ms. Adam, is an experienced Certified Public Accountant with an MBA and a CPA (T). She is a retired Deputy Director of Finance for the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) where she served for eight years.

She is also an active member of various governing boards, committees, and professional associations.

Currently, a retired Officer initially employed by Tanzania Breweries Limited and Tanzania Revenue Authority in various capacities in Finance Department between 1980-2016 respectively, 1980-2008 Rukia worked as Plant Accountant, Fixed Assets Accountant, Management Accountant, National Credit Manager, Finance Manager, and Group Management Accountant while in Tanzania Breweries limited and its subsidiaries viz Tanzania Distilleries Limited and Dar Brew Limited. Between 2008-2016 She worked with Tanzania Revenue Authority as Deputy Director of Management Accounting and Deputy Director of Accounting Operations and retired from public service on 15 Sept 2016.

She was appointed as a board member from 2013 to date serving various organizations  Institute of Accountancy Arusha as Chairperson till Dec 2017, Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority till June 2018, National Board of Accountants and Auditors July 2018 to date, and Akiba Commercial Bank as Non-Executive independent Director Nov 2018.

In July 2020 Rukia was appointed as a Board Member of the Tanzania Civil Aviation Authority (TCAA) a position she serves to date.
